A free weekend! Since becoming full time freelance I realised that weekends have not been returned to me, as I had hoped in the beginning. I’m not complaining, as much of the time photography for me is as much pleasure as it is work. However, when I do have a weekend that I’m not shooting a wedding or catching up on work I’m not always sure what to do with myself! However this weekend I have a desire to do some ‘Webmin’ – I get married in May. I must admit I have found it a little hard to get fully enthused and inspired – as I’m just not sure what I want! I spend days, because of being a wedding photographer, pouring over wedding images, info and talking to brides-to-be – that part of me feels a little overwhelmed!
Anyway – last weekend I had a fitting for my dress (my mother is making it) and we did some girly shopping for bridal underwear and shoes and some excitement began to shine through! I also began to design a wedding invitation DIY style (we only need 6 invites!) and reminded myself how much I love creating and designing. I’ve been to Art School and picking up a pencil took me back to those very enjoyable days. Using Pinterest (which is just the most useful and inspiring website for creative projects – especially for weddings) I’ve gradually began collecting some inspiration boards.
I’ve always enjoyed good typography, so I’ve gone a little crazy on it for our invite. Or, to be precise I’ve tried my hand at some ‘Lettering’. A little sneak peek at my efforts below…

I want to include some small illustrations that reveal a little more about myself and my boyfriend – to keep it personal. I also want to have a few nautical themes – to tie in our venue in Rye Town Hall, East Sussex.
